God Answers Prayers

Myself, along with MANY people have been praying for a Gentleman and his family. Some of us know him, some have only seen his face in the photos. God brought all of us together in the midst of his upcoming life changing surgery.
David Hurst, a fellow Wacoan (I still feel a like I'm a part of Waco even though I don't live there) :) recently found out he had a Brain Tumor, golf ball size, in the left frontal lobe of his brain. David is a local ED Physician, a Husband and father of two adorable little children that I was blessed to have met. Within days, literally days, he and his wife were making plans to have this tumor removed at MD Anderson. MD Anderson specializes in Cancer treatment, and even more so has technology that other hospitals do not.
A few days before surgery day, a friend of the family, Breck contacted me about photographing the family to capture them in their environment before it changed in just a few days. I at the time had no idea how much I would receive from this family having never met them before. I of course said I would and prayed about this day.
His wife Dana answered the door and she was beautiful, full of life, not an ounce of fear was to be found that I could see. She let me in, and down the stairs came David. This was the moment I prayed for.
Lord, please be with me as I meet this family who's lives are changing at a rapid pace. Give me the strength to not show my weakness, tears. Hold my hand steady Lord, allow my camera to operate as it should. Allow me to be a light to this family in a time that would appear to be so dark.
I prayed not only for them, but yes for myself. I had friends praying for me as well. God heard them. God heard me. God heard YOU!
After the pictures were finished, and I had given Dana a few things before leaving, she spoke with me for a minute about the peace she felt. A peace that I wouldn't imagine one could have in the spin cycle she was enduring. She was so confident in God and all that he can do, and those who where praying. She knew that it was in God's hands, and she trusted that, and felt relieved by that it seemed.
They left that evening, and from that moment I kept up with them on their blog. I lived there for a day or two it seemed. After just knowing them for just a few hours, I wanted more than anything at that moment for God to do just as Dana knew he would.
I posted a video the night before surgery. I wanted the family and friends to be able to see the life that was still inside of Dana and David despite what they were facing. The were full of it! LIFE, this thing that God has given us... Life. I know at times it takes something of this magnitude to force you to live your LIFE, but for this family I seemed to gather that they lived their life long before this day. The video brought out many strangers who did not know David, and may never know David. What it also brought was a group of believers together to pray for this man. To pray for healing! God heard, and God healed!
David is now home (Less than 4 full days after having Brain Surgery). The family is so grateful, and still so full of life. They are still awaiting the pathology report from the tumor, and are still prayerful! You can read more about hsi journey at www.hurstfamilyupdate.blogspot.com
This family changed me a lot that day. So much that I had to be thankful for, so much to do in my life to be "living" it. I cannot thank them enough for that. I hope you are able to see the beauty in this family through the video, and this post. God is life, he has given it to us so selflessly! Live your life, and live it in thanks to God for what he has given you. Please, if you get a chance to my photography page on FB and watch the video, and be praying for them. What a joy they are!

Whew... It's been ummm.. WAY to long...

Well it looks like it has been about 7 months since I have posted on here...thats no bueno. Hopefully I can do better at posting and adding to this blog so those of you who are not a part of the Facebook world (is there anyone out there) can see my pictures. :)

I have had a wonderful summer, not a whole lot of shooting, but goodness it is HOT outside. I have helped with a few weddings (Brenda Johson &/or Jennifer Gauer), shot as "lead" at a wedding, done a few giveaway sessions, family sessions, newborn sessions, maternity sessions, and one year sessions...I guess I have been busy. Just doesn't seem thay way when you LOVE it! :)

As I mentioned above, I have a facebook page.. go and find me (Embrace Photography by Brittney Hejl) and "like" my page so you can keep up to date with the latest photos and things going on. :-) Right now I am booking sessions for the months of October-December and those of you who book a date and keep it get a FREE 11x16 photo from your session.

I am also planning a "Pumpkin Patch" session again, and maybe even some sort of Christmas mini session (still thinking) :)

A few things have changed regarding my prices and the way things are handled, but nothing to extravagant I don't think. :) You can click on the Session Prices and also the Print/Package prices to see the chages.

You can always still reach me at brittneyhejl@gmail.com or contact me through Facebook.

OH and I got a new puppy.. :) Meet Emily "Emmy"
I hope you all are withstanding the heat. I advise that you dance a little harder during your rain dance adventures.. it's not working! :) Better yet, just pray... I feel it is more reliable than your dancing. :)

Long time no see.

Ok, well it has been a while since I have been here. No need to worry, everything is A OK! :) I have been keeping up mainly with my facebook for pictures. If you do not have me as a friend and would like to add me just send me a message letting me know you are interested in pictures. I usually don't add those that I don't know if there is not a message or something along those lines!
So, last week I held the "Snap Shot Pumpkin Patch". It was fantastic, and I ended up shooting 24 separate families and/or their kids. Thanks to God for handing me strength, patience, and a long lasting battery (I only have one). :) I shot from Wednesday - Sunday, which was the actual "planned" Pumpkin Patch day! With word of mouth, the Sunday Patch turned into a week long patch, and I still have some asking. God is GREAT!
Thank you to all who made it out, and who have planned to come! I hope you all have loved your pictures!

Until next time!

Pre Patch Fun

Well, yesterday was a day dedicated to shopping around for my "Snap Shot Pumpkin Patch" that is fast approaching! In doing so, with the help of a friend Kameron, we managed to gather a couple of families for pictures at the Central Christian Church Pumpkin Patch. While Bethany and I had plans to do some pumpkin shopping, she then got the job of keeping up with my kiddo's while I took photos. All in all, it was a great day! I got a few pumpkins, fall flowers, and fall baskets that will add a little more festivity to the Patch I will be setting up. The Patch that we used here is quite different then the plan I have in store, but was still super cute!! Thank you to Kameron, Abby, Bonnie, and of course Bethany for all coming out and allowing me to get in some "Pre Patch Fun"! :) Ladies, if you would like to view the photos to place your order, please click on "Patch Photo's" on the right side of this page. :) Instructions will be there on how to order. Thank you again!!

The more the Merrier!

The title to this tells it all! I had the pleasure of photographing this blessed family. This family consist of six boys, YES, six boys. I think the mommy is out numbered, but looks to be so happy with her many blessings. These boys were the most well mannered little boys I have ever been around. They did whatever I asked, and did it with a smile. We had a wonderful evening! :)
